Gary Schnell, M.D. graduated from the Medical College of WI in 1983. He subsequently completed his residency in psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry in 1986 and 1988, respectively. He was in private practice as a child psychiatrist for 33 years. He is now semi-retired and working as a child psychiatry consultant one day/week. His interests in the topics of this book blossomed in 2009, after the death of his son Darryl. This book is part of an ongoing effort to come to grips with and put into context the life and death of his son. He pursued a meditation practice with other like-minded spiritual seekers. He discovered his medical background and meditation practice were consistent with his consumption of quantum physics lay-literature. He came to realize the information found in the three domains of his medical background, his meditation practice, and his reading of quantum physics existed as a unified, parsimonious, and beautiful whole. That realization is the journey of this book. He has discovered a meaningful context, not only for the life and death of his son, but for his own life as well.
