Wendy Díaz

WENDY DÍAZ was born in Puerto Rico, where she spent half of her childhood before moving to the U.S. She is an award-winning poet, author, translator, and co-founder of Hablamos Islam – a social project focused on creating educational resources about Islam in the Spanish language. After graduating from the University of Maryland (UMBC) with a degree in modern languages and linguistics, she began her career as a teacher. However, when she discovered her passion for creative writing and storytelling, she decided to devote her efforts to creating unique children’s stories.

Her bilingual children's books have been distributed in more than a dozen Spanish-speaking countries while her online children's programming has been viewed in over 40 countries. When she is not writing or filming her puppet show, Hablamos Islam con Ahmed, you can find her in the kitchen preparing empanadas and other delicious Puerto Rican dishes.
