Juca Serrado

Juca Serrado was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in 1957. He is married, the father of two children and has two stepdaughters, in addition to a grandson and another on the way. During his youth, he was a surfer, sailor and diver, his life has always been linked to the sea and nature.

He studied architecture and economics, and worked in the financial market for more than a decade. For a time, he was a columnist in a specialized magazine on the financial market, having numerous letters published in newspapers.

He was seduced by books in childhood, with J.R.R Tolkien and Agatha Christie. During high school he read several books by authors such as Edgar A. Poe, Hemingway, Vidal, Scott Fitzgerald, Frederick Forsyth, among others.

In his first book, “The Turk”, the author presents a pragmatic view on ethics and morals. The book has romance, adventure and suspense, mixing fiction with reality, and, through its characters, manages to capture the reader´s attention from the first to the last chapter, with an electrifying ending.

In 2019 he released his second book, a story about the construction of Christ the Redeemer Statue and its mysteries in a novel / trhiller where he once again mixes fiction with reality. With the title “Sob o Olhar do Guardião”, it was first launched at the Óbidos literature fair in Portugal, with great success, and later in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In October of this year he participated in the fair "LER, Festival do Leitor" in his hometown, where he was a speaker. It is available in the Portuguese version and soon in English.

He is currently writing his third book, a story that begins in the 19th century during the time of slavery and its abolition, going through the beginning of the 20th century in the city of Rio de Janeiro and until the 1950s, about the life of a man who suffered the injustices of life and overcame them.
