Julie Hanney

Julie Hanney is a pianist, composer, author, teacher and recording artist. She has released several albums of solo piano music as well as many singles. Most recently she released an EP titled "Impressions." Her music is available for streaming and/or purchase on all the major music streaming sites. Her peaceful, moving and inventive compositions span several genres from neoclassical/contemporary classical to jazz to modern romantic to classical. People have used Julie's music for meditation, healing, dancing, stretching, tinnitus relief and anxiety relief.

Julie's grandmother began teaching her piano at the age of five and this sparked a passion for music. Julie received her formal music education at the University of Oregon where she graduated with a degree in Music with special emphasis on piano and composition. She studied composition at the graduate level and is a published composer of works for piano, choir and various instrument combinations.

Julie's songbook titled "Looks Easy, Sounds Hard" is full of original music for pianists of all ages who are in their first few years of lessons. It's dedicated to people want to make beautiful and interesting music that sounds harder than it is. This songbook is available on Amazon. All of the audio for these songs are available on YouTube to help pianists learn by listening as well as by music notation.

Her next songbook "Jazzy Piano Jams" is for pianists level four and up. These 11 original jazz songs are in a variety of styles and Julie has recorded audio of each one that is available online on YouTube, as well.

Julie is also a published author. Her short stories and poetry have been featured in literary magazines and she is a freelance journalist. She authored the relaxing, humorous and gratitude-filled children's bedtime story, "The 'Ahhh...' Goodnight Book," which is available on Amazon.

Most recently she authored "The Most 'Boring' Bedtime Story in the World" which is actually anything but boring! It contains twists, turns, suspense and a hilarious surprise ending. :-)
