Born in Edinburgh, Jack Robertson is a lifelong socialist, anti-racist and militant trade unionist. He became a shop steward in the engineering industry in Manchester in the 1970s before moving to London where he was employed as a journalist. There, he was a Father of the Chapel in the National Union of Journalists, latterly at Thomson Reuters. He also wrote for Socialist Worker and Socialist Review. He studied Russian Language, Literature and History at Queen Mary & Westfield College and SSEES in the early 1990s. Now retired, he lives in West Ham and is married to an East London GP. They have two daughters and two grand-daughters.
