Christopher Skinner

Christopher Skinner was born in the tiny village of Tongham in Surrey, England and educated at Caterham, before migrating to New Zealand in 1971. The majority of his working life was spent in the business world in Auckland, including a brief stint as a radio announcer in his early days. He always had a love of language and books, and started to write in the 1980's. Many writers are time starved, by holding down full-time jobs and only writing in spare moments. Chris is no exception- and his early attempts included feature articles for newspapers as a very part-time freelance journalist.

Chris met Alison (his wife to be) in 1985 and they have lived in a little white Mt Eden villa, ever since.

Auckland has a near perfect climate with warm summers and mild winters. It is a maritime climate, with the sea everywhere and this formed the template for the description of the fabled city of Atlantis, found in the 1st book.

Chris retired from the 9-5 world in 2018 and with more time available, started to write "The Time Magician" later that year. It was published on Amazon in March 2020. It is a yarn that principally aims to entertain, and is based on the "what if ? principle. That is to say- what if someone (Merlin) could travel through time? What then? How might this affect the world? It is also an adventure story, so for all its overlays of history, politics and philosophy, it remains a tale of travels and adventures. The book lends itself to sequels, or a series, with book 2 (The Soldier, The Magician & The King) being published in 2021.Written, as the world was forced into lockdown, amidst the Covid19 Pandemic, the 2nd book in the series, is an altogether darker, more dystopian tale, involving politics and war! The story begins at The End of Time and ends after Merlin plunges the world back to 1955, as the Chinese missiles start to explode, in the skies above London. There is a 3rd book on the drawing board, which will be called "The Prophet".
