Dr. MacGregor is an internationally recognized and widely published expert on product safety evaluation and regulation. He has directed important safety evaluation programs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, SRI International (formerly the Stanford Research Institute), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. His book, “A Natural Mistake: Why natural, organic, and botanical products are not as safe as you think”, was motivated by his recognition of the widespread misunderstanding of the public about the safety and health benefits of natural and botanical products and his concerns about the weak safety laws that apply to botanical dietary supplements. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology and has been President of the Regulatory and Safety Evaluation Specialty Section of the Society of Toxicology, President of the Association of Government Toxicologists, and president of other national and regional professional societies involved with product safety testing. He is a consultant for major international companies and government and non-profit organizations on product safety issues.
