Colin Taylor

Colin Taylor is a writer and oral storyteller. He writes fiction for children, short stories and poetry for adults and has written musicals for schools to perform. Having been a primary school teacher for many years, he is well qualified in knowing what children like to hear and read.

“I’ve read so many children’s books. I’ve read them to children in schools, read them to my own children, read them to my grandchildren and read them just for myself.”

The Restaurant Bear was his first story for children. The sequel, The Restaurant Bear Returns will be published soon. The Sticker Monster, his first picture book has been followed by The Glitter Monster. Watch out for The Packed Lunch Monster, which is coming soon. The Wishdosher, a story for older children, will be next and The Power of the Stones will follow.

Described as a dynamic, distinctive and fascinating storyteller, who never fails to grab children and adult's attention, Colin tells tales that children of primary age love. As a professional storyteller, Colin can draw on the worldwide traditional story repertoire and also tells and reads many of his own unique stories, written especially for children.

He is an active member of Brentwood Writers’ Circle and over time has taken on the roles of chair, vice chair and committee member.
