Albert J. Emanuelli

Al Emanuelli, a first time author, spent a combined 40 years as a trial attorney and Supreme Court Justice in White Plains N.Y. before retiring to Hilton Head Island where he, his wife and rescue dog Baci have been long time residents.

His extensive legal background and knowledge provided a wealth of experience for this book.

In May 1985, Town and Country Magazine’s nationwide survey rated him one of “ The Best Lawyers in the U.S.”

His legal accomplishments as an attorney include a number of precedent setting cases.

The most notable was a unanimous decision by New York's highest court in December, 1985 that awarded his client Loretta O’Brien, a monetary share of the present value of her husband’s medical license earned during the marriage as it was considered marital property to be divided between divorcing spouses.

The case broke the “glass ceiling” and established an entirely new legal precedent receiving wide national attention. It’s followed in many states in the U.S. and is part of law school curriculum and law school bar exams.

In 1996, he was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his past pro bona legal work for newly admitted immigrants.

Their son and daughter in law live in N.Y. with their two grandchildren.
