Jane Bevan

Growing up in south east Kent, Jane Bevan lost her mum to cancer when she was only 15 and was left to look after her dad and brother. Her mum, Mary Rose Polden, was the one who taught her to cook and she has now been running a successful catering business for over 20 years, winning a Kent Women in Business Award in 2015 and an Independent Business Award in 2017 thanks to Mary. December 2019 marked 40 years since Mary died and Jane Bevan has written her first book, in memory of her mum, based on some of the experiences they had as a family. With no writing experience, the book has drawn directly from the memories she had as a child with her mum. 10% of royalties will be going to Cancer Research UK in her memory. Jane wants young children to experience the same nurturing her mum gave her and she wants them to have fun whilst learning a vital life skill.
