Laurie Dennis is the author of "The Lacquered Talisman," the first in a planned series of historical fiction about Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of China's Ming Dynasty. Laurie grew up in Illinois and Minnesota and has been studying Chinese since she was a high school freshman in Minneapolis. She has worked as a journalist in the U.S. and in Beijing, China, and she has traveled widely across China, including a research trip to Fengyang, Anhui Province, the birthplace of the Ming founder. She currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband and works on China programs for her alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
"Historical fiction lovers will delight in THE LACQUERED TALISMAN, which gives us a vividly-imagined, brilliantly-told story of a real-life emperor’s humble origins."
