Hi,
My name is Rob Staffin. I am a clinical psychologist who has been practicing for 30 years. I began studying clinical hypnosis 20 years ago. I became fascinated with hypnosis when I experienced my first arm levitation. This experience, my arm raising into the air with out my conscious intent, both scared and amazed me. It was my desire to better understand this experience that led me to take the deep dive into clinical hypnosis. That journey has led me to become a diplomate in psychological hypnosis and the author of, More Common Therapy: The Experiential Psychotherapy of Jeffrey K. Zeig, Ph.D.
Dr. Zeig is an internationally renowned psychologist, lecturer and teacher. He is the founder and executive director of the Milton H. Erickson Foundation. Jeff began the foundation back in 1979 as a tribute to his mentor, Milton H. Erickson, MD. For the past 40 years, the Erickson Foundation has been on the cutting edge of the evolution of psychotherapy. In addition to offering training in clinical hypnosis, the Foundation hosts The Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference, The International Erickson Congress, The Brief Therapy Conference and The Couples Conference.
Since 2002, Jeff has been teaching master classes. These began in New York City and now take place around the world. The master class is an intimate setting in which clinician get to be Jeff's client and be supervised by him in their work with other members of the class. I was in that first master class and have attended 2-3 each year since the inception of the master class. My book, More Common Therapy, is an exegesis of Jeff's work. Through a micro-analysis of video tapes from the master classes, I present and discuss elements of Jeff's mastery. I like to think of it as an advanced "how to" book for clinicians looking to advance and hone their clinical skills. Writing the book was a labor of love. I hope you will enjoy it and find skills, techniques, and strategies that you can incorporate into your practice.
Please feel free to reach out to me. I love talking about clinical work.
Best Regards,
Rob Staffin, PsyD, ABPH
