Dr. S. Kaisar Alam has been active in research for more than 30 years and has written over 40 papers in international journals and holds several patents. His research interests include diagnostic and therapeutic applications of ultrasound and optics, and signal/image processing with applications to medical imaging. The areas of his most active research include elasticity imaging and quantitative ultrasound.

Dr. Alam received his B.Tech (Honors) from IIT, Kharagpur, India and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester, New York, USA. His research publications and teaching have been in signal/image processing with applications to medical imaging. He was a Principal Investigator at Riverside Research, New York from 1998 to 2013 and the Chief Research Officer at an upcoming tech startup in Singapore from 2013 to 2017.

Currently, he runs his own consulting company specializing in medical image analysis, signal processing, and diagnostic and therapeutic applications of ultrasound.

Dr. Alam is a Fellow of AIUM and a Senior Member of IEEE and has served in the AIUM Technical Standards Committee and the Ultrasound Coordinating Committee of the RSNA-QIBA. He is an associate editor of Ultrasonics (Elsevier) and Ultrasonic Imaging (Sage). Dr. Alam has been a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Award in 2011–2012.
