James E. Watson was born in Florida, where he lived until he went to King College in Bristol, Tennessee. After graduating with a degree in biology he went briefly to the University of Florida Medical School, where he decided he didn't feel called to be a doctor. After teaching math at Virginia Junior High in Bristol, Virginia, for the rest of that year, he then felt called into the pastoral ministry and completed a Master of Divinity degree at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. After seminary he became the pastor of Chattanooga Valley Presbyterian Church near Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1975 he became the Associate Pastor of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 1980 he became the Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, Florida. In 1986 he became the pastor of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, from which he retired in 2017. In 2016 he receive a Ph.D. in Humanities from Florida State University. This doctorate gave him the opportunity to study Greek so as to teach the bible more accurately. His ministry has been an effort to help people know Christ and grow as Christians and be trained and encouraged to do ministry. He enjoys personal evangelism and teaching the bible verse by verse in an expository method. Over 47 years of pastoral ministry, he has taught verse by verse through all the books of the bible except a few in the Old Testament. He is married with 7 children and 10 grandchildren. He and his wife Annette enjoy ministering together and ballroom dancing.
