E. Thomas McClanahan

E. Thomas McClanahan is a writer living in Kansas City with his wife, Judy, and a crazed terrier named Molly. He grew up in Denver, served three years in the Marine Corps, and graduated from the University of Colorado with degrees in history and journalism. While working for United Press International in Denver, he started a quarterly entertainment guide called the Capitol Hill Guidebook, an enterprise that made enough to pay its expenses but somehow failed to pay its owner a dime, or compensate his bride, The Judith, for the appearance of 20,000 Guidebooks in her home every three months. With UPI’s viability fading, he took a reporting job at The Kansas City Star, then moved to the paper’s editorial board, where he wrote editorials and a weekly column. He retired from the Star after 29 years, and finally turned to fiction. He also enjoys throwing pots and producing ceramic sculpture at a community studio near his home.
