Øyvind Torp (b. 1977) graduated from The University of Oslo in 2006 and has worked as a family doctor for more than ten years. He is a specialist in general medical practice with further training in psychiatry and cognitive therapy. His fields of special interest are diet and physical activity.
In june 2016 he received the shocking news of advanced cancer and has since devoted his time and his life to beating it. So far, 4 years after the diagnose, he has succeeded in keeping the cancer at bay. In august 2018 Øyvind and co-author Geir Stian Ulstein pursued an old dream: running 7 marathons in just 13 days following the trails of the famous 18th century Norwegian runner Mensen Ernst. After this epic trip they wrote the book "In the shadows of the running king".
Dr Torps latest book, "Self-defence against obesity" is due to be published in english by fall 2020.
