Joy Phillips Routt

First time published author, Joy Phillips Routt has enjoyed a potpourri of life experiences.

She grew up on a hundred acre farm in Savannah, Tennessee with pigs, cows, horses, chickens, fifty dogs, and five brothers. Her time there help toughen her for the up and downs of life in general.

After graduating from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, she moved to Memphis. There she met and married her husband William, and through his promotions they had the opportunity to live in many cities throughout America.

Joy had the opportunity to teach textiles and design for a private college in Tampa, Florida.

From there she designed ladies apparel in New Port Beach, California. Joy managed a boutique in Chicago and worked in the executive program for Bloomingdales in New York City. She also began selling her art work in a few local markets.

The many cities and different work opportunities added so much to her life experiences, and knowledge of America.

After six years in New York City, she and her husband moved back to their southern roots. Her beloved Memphis has been her home for many years now. In Memphis, Joy opened a ladies upscale boutique,. She also became very involved in the local art world. She formed an artist group as well as managed an art gallery.

During all the years of transferring around the country, she continued her two life long interested, arts as well as writing. Now she is focusing her talents on writing mystery novels.

She is using her potpourri of life experiences to create her stories.

Joy stated that she decided she wanted to write and publish a mystery novel before her

rent on this earth was up. So she set out to do just that.
