Stephen G. Chaffee

Born in New England (U.S.) and educated in the U.S. and Europe, Stephen G. Chaffee spent a career in drilling engineering and teaching literary studies while working internationally and residing in The Netherlands.

He holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware (U.S.), and a Master's

degree from the University of Amsterdam (Holland).

He lived for some time in the fjords of Norway, the deserts of the Middle East, the coasts of New England, and the jungles of Gabon.

Mr. Chaffee now apportions his retirement with his wife, Josje, between the U.S. and The Netherlands.

Although he'll seldom admit to the one and most often to the other, his wife has attested that there are two specific questions that she could wake him up in the middle of the night and ask of him that he will always answer resoundingly "Yes!" to: The one is if he'd like an ice-cream; the other is if he's thinking about writing.

He also has the habit of collecting small stones when he walks along the shore (and storing them in misellaneous piles in either the car or the house). Shells, too; although he'll seldom admit to the one and most often to the other.
