S. L. (Sheena) Ager writes Vocabulary Novels that combine fantasy adventure with 11+ English preparation.

Tangled Time began with her son, a reluctant reader preparing for the 11+. She wanted him to enjoy a story while meeting challenging words in context, with their meanings close at hand.

The Cadwaladr Chronicles follows Cad through four adventures: Trap, Cipher, Siege and Escape. The story continues in The Cadwaladr Quests: Tangled Time, Race for the Gold and Cat’s Eye.

Year 4 readers can begin with Trap. Year 5 readers can start with Tangled Time without reading the Chronicles first.

The novels include an on-page dictionary and Knowledge Nuggets explaining spelling, punctuation, grammar, literary devices and comprehension. Sheena also creates companion workbooks, standalone verbal skills workbooks and vocabulary notebooks.

Her advice: enjoy the story, use the definitions when needed, and take time to understand the Knowledge Nuggets.
