Retired GP having worked in NHS for 35 years and a GP educator for 25 years. Grew up in Ware in Hertfordshire and became a GP there ‘after a series of coincidences’ led him back home. Medical interests include diabetes, mental health, intermediate care and complementary therapies. He is a defender of the traditional GP role with the patient at the heart of care. Very open to new ideas he remains to be convinced that a huge swing to on line consulting will benefit all types of patients and be as rewarding for clinicians. He is a passionate gardener, grandfather and been a member of his local joggers and team of bell ringers. A former medical editor of teenage magazine 4 Girlz, he became a fellow of the Royal College of GPs in November 2019. He published his first book in December 2019 after keeping a diary of his last year as a GP during all the tribulations of austerity. Despite this he recommends a career as a doctor and both children have followed him and his wife into medicine.
