Having published my memoir, I'd encourage all who have a story to write it down. In my case it helped to understand my difficult background, both the bitter and the sweet. My husband was my editor, and we initially wrote it as a series of vignettes or events. The idea to write my life story came initially from attending a workshop with author Elizabeth Gilbert. She told us that if your story can make readers cry as well as laugh, you have a book!
As a child I had a strong interest in biographies, perhaps as a way to a better life through the examples of famous people. I'm still drawn to memoirs of people who have made a difference. Bittersweet Memories launched January 2020. The reviews have been heartfelt and positive.
“ I was enthralled by the clarity of the author's memories and by her ability to sort through the painful aspects of each stage of her past to share gems of resilience. Barbara recognizes situations and relationships, even as a child, as challenging yet not insurmountable. What a beautiful and inspirational biography.”
“ Something for everybody! Easy reading with history, family experiences, and life lessons you will relate to. You cry, smile, grow, love, and soar with Barbara as she tells her story straight from the heart. A page turner!”
Today my life involves trips with my husband, time at our home on Long Island Sound, enjoying our five young granddaughters, and following the success of our daughters and son-in-laws.
Thank you for your considering to purchase Bittersweet Memories, and I look forward to your comments.
