Kat is a speaker and writer, passionate about connecting God’s Word to our everyday lives. She’s an enthusiastic communicator who loves Jesus, loves the Bible, and loves share what she learns with anyone who will listen. She has authored several Bible studies, blogs frequently, and speaks to groups and retreats in Central Texas and beyond.
Kat’s ministry life began as a small group leader in a women’s Bible study, and winds all the way through a decade of senior church staff positions at Austin Oaks Church. Nine of those years were spent as the Women’s Director, writing and teaching Bible studies, planning events, walking with women through the ups and downs of life. Licensed by the Evangelical Free Church of America, she had the privilege of serving multiple generations, from college-aged and young professionals through octogenerians and seasoned veterans in the faith. Through those experiences, God birthed in her a passion for all women to find their identity in God alone, to know him intimately through the Scriptures, and to find the joy-filled life he offers in Jesus.
Kat also treasures her roles as wife and mother. She met her husband, Derry, at the University of Texas where he completed a music major and she studied broadcast journalism. They married on graduation weekend 25 years ago. They have two children, Liana (19) and Devin (17), and three fuzzy babies - a dog and two cats.
She loves coffee with plenty of cream and sugar. And chocolate. And a good action movie. Sunday afternoon naps are the best. Special meals with friends are, too. She cries when football season is over, and cheers loudest for her UT Longhorns. Her kids makes her look cool. Otherwise, she’s a Bible nerd who loves her techie toys, her books, and whatever adventures life brings.
