Dr. Lisa Cowley, along with her husband, Victor Westgate, are sole proprietors of Joy in Aging, a speaking engagement organization that works with individuals to rediscover their life's purpose. She obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1987 from New York Chiropractic College and was a sole proprietor of Alternative Healthcare Chiropractic in Southold, NY for twenty three years, where she provided holistic care to thousands of patients.
After retiring from private practice she moved to upstate NY where along with her husband, Victor, started a business, Wood Turtle Farm, growing log-grown shiitake mushrooms and organic culinary herbs. During the off season they spent time crisscrossing the United States from Maine to California and interviewed women and men from the ages of fifty to seventy five years old and discovered more about what experiences created happiness and what contributed to promoting longevity. These findings are found in "Pack Lightly: Making Sense of the Second Half of Your Life."
