Rebekah Scott

Rebekah Scott is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was a prize-winning journalist for 22 years at a string of American newspapers and magazines before she ran away to Spain to start her own circus.

She and Patrick, her wise-ass English husband, moved in 2006 to Moratinos, a village of 20 souls on the plains of northern Spain. They bought Peaceable Kingdom, a tumbledown adobe house, and opened the doors to a variety of international pilgrims walking past on the Camino de Santiago trail.

Meantime, Rebekah wrote two books, several trail guides, and many illustrated historical pamphlets and articles. In 2017 she translated “El Gran Caminante,” a Spanish best-seller by Antxon Gabarain Gonzalez, to “The Great Westward Walk.” She continues to edit manuscript books for a publishing house in the United States.

Rebekah is a novice member of the New Benedictine Community and is a board member of Fraternidad Internacional del Camino de Santiago, an activist group dedicated to maintaining the ancient pilgrimage ethos of hospitality without a price-tag. In 2017 she founded Peaceable Projects Inc., a U.S.-based non-profit that meets emergency needs on the Camino network with funds and volunteer people-power from all over the world.
