While studying film and journalism at San Diego State University, on the side, Gregory Lincoln Kinney wrote a three-volume set of a roleplaying game series titled, World Action and Adventure, that was distributed to game stores worldwide. Primarily for that and for winning a nationwide (U.S.) Adventurous Man contest put on by Daniel Hechter Men's Suits (Paris), he was awarded a full-tuition scholarship at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing Seminars. While there, among many writing classes and disciplines, he wrote and directed plays with Pulitzer Prize winner, Edward Albee, as one of his teachers.
After graduating, Greg married his college sweetheart, Rosemarie, who also graduated from JHU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. For many years thereafter, while they raised six kids, he wrote eleven screenplays and was involved with many creative projects that involved writing. Throughout all the years he has written poems, fiction, commentary, letters, and essays.
Now, this is the first time G. L. Kinney offers his fiction writing to be read by the public—which will hopefully include you! In the introduction of his book, The Spectacular Sea: 7 Sea Stories, you will discover his background with all things that have to do with the sea and what inspired him to specifically write this collection of new and original stories. Though, it was primarily this: He was going on a cruise ship with Rosemarie and was looking for something to read before going on the trip. When he didn't find exactly what he was looking for, well then, the project--a writing journey with multiple facets--was on!
