Diego L. Rodríguez (1994). Industrial Engineer with an MBA from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), and Psychologist from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). I specialize in Gestalt psychotherapy and I’m a member of the Instituto de Terapia Gestalt de Valencia (ITG) and the Spanish Association for Gestalt Therapy (AETG). I’m also an ICF-accredited coach (ACSTH) and co-author of Huellas, written with David Alpuente—one of my closest friends and most influential mentors.
I spent more than eight years leading production, processes, and continuous improvement across companies in the textile, chemical, automotive, and energy sectors. But before all of that, I worked as a lifeguard in London, a waiter in Ibiza, and a plumber in Amsterdam. Then cancer unexpectedly entered my life. Thanks to my family, medicine, and psychology, I am now a survivor of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). That’s why you’ll often find me whistling with gratitude, wearing mismatched socks, and considering myself a genuinely happy person.
For most of my life, I sought my father’s approval. He was demanding yet protective, and he instilled in me a strong work ethic. Following his example, I studied engineering and dreamed of building a high-flying corporate career like his. But life had other plans: a psychologist crossed my path, and we began writing a book together. Without realizing it, I stepped into a therapeutic journey that transformed me—and completely reshaped my relationship with my father. I came to understand that for 25 years I’d been trying to get close to him in the wrong way. I learned that the sun, with its warmth, makes you take off more coats than the wind ever can with its force.
