Richard Salcido earned his bachelor of science degree in business management from the California State University, Long Beach, in 1988. After which, he entered active duty in the US Army as a commissioned officer, where he wrote a multitude of military correspondence ranging from orders and memorandums to letters and reports. In the early 1990s, he served as the assistant commandant for the Military Police Training Program at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. As law enforcement operations officer, he was responsible for the completeness and accuracy of Military Police reports. While assigned as an instructor at the Military Police School, located at Fort McClellan, Alabama, he wrote numerous training and lesson plans for the officer basic course. He completed the Instructor Training Course, the Small Group Leader Instructor Course, and the Army Doctrine Instructor Course.
Upon resigning from the military, Richard revised and taught the Fleet Operations portion of the Driver Orientation Training Program for his employer, a transportation company. He also ghostwrote letters, memorandums, and e-mails for the president of a small corporation in the construction industry.
Richard has studied the Holy Bible for thirty-nine years, teaching at his local church for several of those years. He co-wrote the biography for Vietnam War veteran and pastor Herbert Mays, titled "He, Me, and My Donkeys." He also wrote the historical-fiction novel "Uriah" depicting the love triangle between King David, Bathsheba, and her husband Uriah amid troubling times of espionage and war. His next book will be the biography of a veteran of the war on terror, who deeply touched the lives of many people despite his physical and emotional wounds. This book also chronicles the lifelong sacrifices that combat veterans and their families make for our freedom, liberty, and blessings that we often take for granted.
