Wendy Miller met her husband in the church choir in 1987 when he had just finished student teaching. They married a year and a half later. Together, they have two married children, one grandson, four granddaughters. When she is not working, Wendy enjoys traveling with her husband, visits with her family, reading, watching TV, crocheting and knitting.
She has worked as the Business Manager of her church since 2004. Her title makes her the “jack of all trades - master of none.” She oversees the day to day operation of the church, scheduling of events and activities, as well as handling the newsletter, e-mail and app announcements, membership records and accounts payable.
Wendy is a member of The United Methodist Women, serving at the local level as treasurer since 2008. She has also served for the Aurora District UMW as Treasurer from 2009 to 2012 and Secretary between 2013 and 2014. She then served as Treasurer for the Northern Illinois Conference UMW from 2015 through 2019. The Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church redistricted from six to five districts and renamed them, taking affect on July 1, 2021 for churches, however United Methodist Women did not change until the beginning of their fiscal year on January 1, 2022. With this change, Wendy had taken on the role of the United Methodist Women Lake South District President at the time of the changing of districts in January.
She is the Treasurer for the Northern Illinois Conference PAUMCS (Professional Administrators of the United Methodist Connectional Structure), for which she has been a member since 2004. Wendy has been a member of the National PAUMCS since 2005 and served on the Finance Committee for two years and then on the Professional Training and Standards Committee for this organization from 2018 until 2021and is currently the Treasurer.
Wendy earned her Certification as a United Methodist Professional Administrator in 2014 and her Advanced Certification in 2018. The Advanced Certification culminated in the completion of a group project with three other United Methodist Administrators across the country in producing a guide to funeral planning that will be used across the United Methodist denomination. This guide is currently on the paumcs.org web site under the resources tab. The hope is that this guide will also be on the UMCOM web site in the near future.
