Oliver Corfe was born in London in 1944, the third son of a dental surgeon. He left school at seventeen, worked in stock broking and the motor industry, and then travelled overland to Australia in 1965. He lived in Perth and Melbourne, and studied commerce at Swinburne. In 1974 his first novel, "The Sea Gull Rider", was published by Edwards & Shaw. He now lives in Adelaide with his wife, the artist Julie Corfe.
