Lynette Jackson Love

Lynette Jackson Love grew up in the South Carolina “Lowcountry” in the town of Mt. Pleasant. In Act 2 of her life she has discovered a passion for researching and writing about the rich black history in that Lowcountry area. This led to her writing a book about the much beloved Laing School in her hometown. Laing School was started in 1866 by a bold young Quaker lady by the name of Cornelia Hancock. Lynette’s book, “Smashing Obstacles and Building Legacies,” chronicles the 150+ year journey of Laing School as it educated thousands of the descendants of the enslaved from the many plantations in Mt. Pleasant, SC. The book also chronicles the struggles of the Freedmen and Freedwomen who escaped to freedom during the Civil War and the birth of the “Freedmen Schools Movement.”

Her first love in writing centers around writing Bible studies and facilitating small group studies. She has been leading small group Bible studies for 20+ years. Lynette has also published a Bible Study based on John 14 -17. She holds a BS degree in Chemistry. A wife, mother and grandmother, she currently resides in Raleigh NC.
