Dr. Stuart was born in British Columbia, Canada, and received her Medical degree from the University of British Columbia. Lived in England, too, where she studied at Oxford University and did a doctorate in Chemistry. Post-graduate work at Harvard University, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1980, where she opened a family medical practice. Seeing more and more of the need for medicine to be based on patient care and patient need, not related to how much a patient could pay, she left her practice to found a full-time, non-profit medical center for people without medical insurance, opening in 2002. She has two sons, Sam and Nate, of whom she is inordinately fond. The Clinic remains a busy, active place with respect for all.
