John Lonsdale

John Lonsdale is a London based author of urban fantasy novels.

As a youngster he was a devotee of all things science fiction, consuming iconic works such as the Foundation Series, Cities in flight and Dune. In his mid-teens he discovered fantasy books, first with the Lord of the Rings and then moving on to works such as Thomas Covenant. Later he discovered urban fantasy, a genre that fired his own imagination and eventually these ideas found their way onto the written page.

While populating his worlds with a variety of character types and utilising darkly fantastical storylines, he also explores real world issues within each story. Using those tales to hold a mirror up to our own world and examine sometimes disturbing issues.

Having retired from his original career in 2017, he has been able to travel the world extensively, collecting ideas, meeting interesting people and using them as the kernel of plots and characters in his work.
