Dereck Salisbury

Dereck L. Salisbury, PhD, is an Assistant Professor, Clinical Exercise Physiologist, and Director of the Laboratory of Physiology at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. He received his baccalaureate degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in 2008, and Master of Science from South Dakota State University in 2010 and PhD in 2014 from the University of Minnesota in Kinesiology and Applied Physiology. Dr. Salisbury is an active member in the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention, the American Heart Association, and the American College of Sports Medicine. He is a leading expert in exercise rehabilitation of chronic diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease and peripheral artery disease. Dr. Salisbury has served as an exercise physiologist on several multidisciplinary research teams that are investigating the therapeutic effects of exercise rehabilitation in persons with chronic diseases including Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, preclinical Alzheimer's disease, peripheral artery disease, cancer, and pulmonary diseases. He envisions exercise as a lifelong endeavor that is a vital component of healthy aging and achieving a high quality of life.
