In 2016, I was diagnosed with an incurable Stage IV cancer and given only a few months to live. Naturally, that experience changed my life. I was determined to document my experience, including sharing how I coped as well as my thoughts on life, death, God and the afterlife. This would become my first book, Mortal Musings: Waiting for Dawn.
Amazingly, I am now cancer free. But the experience altered my life's priorities. I decided to pursue my love, which is writing, and attempt to make it my career -- writing Science Fiction as well as helping others write memoirs. I also now edit for other authors. This follows a 25 year career as a golf course consultant.
I am happily married to Holly Wait, who is the executive direction of the National Civil War Naval Museum. I have two adult children, Matthew, who is a Medical Physicist living in Hollywood, and Elizabeth, a high school science special ed teacher in Richmond, Virginia.
I grew up in Shawnee Mission, a suburb on the Kansas side of Kansas City. I attended Shawnee Mission North High School before going to the University of Kansas. There I graduated with degrees in Psychology and Human Development before getting my Masters degree in Psychology.
While working on my PhD dissertation, I started a small business called Encore Copy Corps in Lawrence. Little did I realize this would change my future from psychology to business.
For fun, I play golf when I can. I love traveling, reading and being with family and friends.
