Shar Abreu

Shar Abreu Petersen discovered her love of writing when she received her first diary on her eighth birthday. She spent the rest of her growing-up years filling diaries with stories both make-believe and real. She eventually wrote enough stories and essays in college to earn a bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University, where she found that writing children’s literature was what she loved best. Shar is passionate about helping children find joy in reading and writing. She spent more than twelve years creating award-winning language and literacy software for young learners and continues to work in the educational technology industry helping children around the world learn English. Shar lives near the mountains with her artist husband and their four adventurous daughters, where they enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, and rock climbing together.
