Emma Briggs

Although Emma Briggs has been writing poetry for almost her entire life, she has also worked as a journalist, bookshop clerk, sailor, hang-gliding assistant and clown. For fifteen years she travelled the globe on Greenpeace ships, defending the land and sea against human greed and ignorance. Since then she's been volunteering with various Australian environmental grass-roots organisations, while building up a large online following for her writing.

She has penned blogs, short stories and novels, but found her original love of writing poetry is still what flows most naturally through her fingers. For Emma, there is nothing more enjoyable than placing a few evocative words in exactly the right sequence to convey her deep love of nature and her fervent desire to protect it.

While she predicts she will be a hands-on activist until the end of her days, Emma also strives to inspire others to see the bigger picture that nothing can be more important than preserving life on Earth. She believes that art can achieve what information alone cannot, and that by creating something beautiful she can open the human heart to appreciate and honour our magnificent planet.

Emma lives with her partner in the seaside town of Byron Bay on the east coast of Australia. www.emmabriggs.net
