Jed Lynch

Jed Lynch is a human author from Cork, Ireland. Murder Most Fowl is the first book he has had published - it's a hilarious noir detective novel for kids (and for adults who haven't gotten too grown-up to enjoy laughing a lot). It is also the first thing he has co-written with a turkey: Seamus the Shamus, the world's most successful (and, if we're honest, probably the world's only) turkey detective.

Seamus, the founder of the Free Range Detective Agency, provides the exciting storylines based on the cases he has worked, as well as all of the feathers, wings, and beaks in the partnership. Psychotic pigs, ominous toads, cunning cats, fretful flamingos: they all come from Seamus's cases. Sometimes he still wakes up in a cold sweat after dreaming about them.

Jed, on the other hand, provides 100% of the hands in the partnership. After all, wings are pretty useless at typing. Jed also provides all the commas (inverted as well as regular), hyphens, and other fancy bits of punctuation.

Seamus's favourite part of the writing of Murder Most Fowl was getting to talk at great length about the hugely exciting cases he has solved. Jed's favourite part of the writing was thinking up great one-liners to give Seamus, so that he sounds a lot better in the book than he did in real life. (Seamus disputes this, and claims that he writes all of his own one-liners himself.)

They have already finished working on a second book together, and are now trying to decide which of Seamus's cases to use for Book Number 3.
