Stanley Paul Thompson

Stanley Paul Thompson was born in Faribault, Minnesota in 1937. The eldest of two brothers; both made the military their careers; brother Richard in the Marine Corps and Stanley in the Navy. Both flew missions in Vietnam; Stanley flying the A4 Skyhawk with Richard piloting a variety of helicopters.

Stanley graduated from the University of Minnesota where he was commissioned as an Ensign, USN. He attended flight training in Pensacola, Florida and Kingsville, Texas. Subsequent tours included VA-153 where he flew the A4C, Assistant Professor of Naval Science at Northwestern University, instructor pilot for students in Beeville, Texas, VA-144 where he flew missions in Vietnam in the A4E and A4F, obtaining a Masters Degree in Meteorology at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California, CTF-77 Cubi Point, RP, NAS Fallon, NV as Meteorologist, Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean as Meteorologist and Director of Special Services, Great Lakes, IL.

Upon retirement he was President of four FBOs in Southern Minnesota, Director of Marketing at a long-term psychiatric facility for adolescents, part of a Search and Rescue team in Northern Minnesota, Deputy Sheriff in Sierra County, NM, Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at Western University, Silver City, NM and as a full time Poet.

He has published 15 books of poetry and is working on 16. He lives in Southern New Mexico with his wife, Karen and their two pets Mia (a dog) and Seylah Jane (a cat).
