Dara M. Witte was born and raised in the small town of Horton, Kansas. She attended the University of Kansas where she earned her undergraduate and Masters degrees in Teaching and Learning. She continued her education and earned a second Masters in Building Administration from Pittsburgh State University while working as a middle school English teacher in the Kansas City area.

After 14 years in the classroom, and after the birth of her second child, she hung up her teacher's hat. She now has 3 children and currently stays at home with them. There is never a dull moment in the Witte home, but she would not have it any other way.

When she is not working as a full-time mom, Dara stays busy by serving on a variety of community committees and manages the local swim team. Her other hobbies include being outdoors with her children, spending time with friends and organizing social events.

She is happily married to Kevin Witte, an orthopedic surgeon in the KC area. They live in the Village of Loch Lloyd, Missouri.
