Esse & Friends Learning Books

Esse & NannaChar are real people. NannaChar instantly fell in love with Esse the day she was born. Unfortunately, they live half a world away from each other but love to video chat as often as they can. Even living in different countries, NannaChar has delightedly done babysitting duty and video-visits the places Esse attends! The delighted duo were already close friends when they met in person and enjoyed a whole month together.

The Esse & Friends characters came about when NannaChar decided to make a handmade ABC Book for Esse as her second birthday present. NannaChar drew the Swatch Dolls (a term coined by creative James Luke Burke) and painted them using watercolours; four months later, she posted the book to Esse, who loved the purple velvet book cover and often runs her fingers on it to feel the silky texture.

Now that Esse goes to Nursery (preschool) and loves learning new things and making friends, NannaChar thought Esse might love to receive another book with the same characters that this time she can colour in herself!

And, as Esse grows up, NannaChar wants to continue helping her precious mad-scientist like wild-curly haired grand-daughter with her learning, and has a whole series of fun educational Esse & Friends Learning Books to help her in preschool, kindergarten and primary school.
