Dorothy Murphy

Dorothy Murphy is a teacher turned home educator and English resources writer.

She is the mother of two home educated children, one of whom came home from school one day aged five and never went back, the other dispensing with school altogether. They are both now thoroughly educated adults. She also has three home educated grandchildren.

Dorothy supports parents who are home educating their children with information, advice and written resources.

She has a passion for child-centred education and is an advocate for girls’ education, in particular. She has a strong interest in developing and protecting the parent-child relationship in the context of a society which sometimes appears careless about these precious bonds.

What little free time she has, Dorothy devotes to the cultivation of community, the crafting of poems and the singing of songs.
