Amanda Rodriguez

Amanda Rodriguez is a humor blogger, writer, photographer, and author whose authentic, hey girl, writing style and ability to find the humor in everyday situations have touched parents for years.

Amanda launched her first blog, parentingBYdummies, in 2008 when she unexpectedly (thank you cost of daycare on a teacher's salary) became a stay at home mom to her third son. Feeling out smarted by her three young children, she sought the connection to other similarly overwhelmed parents online. Via her humorous stories about her hours long trips to Ikea with her toddlers in tow and being the mom to the overzealous toddler who never figured out the meaning of "inside voice" at library story time, Amanda was able to connect to countless mothers who were "yassss girling" her from behind their own computer screens.

After winding up on the TLC show, What NOT to Wear for letting herself go in epic TV-worthy fashion, Amanda's online community exploded with moms who related to her plight of finding the effort to wear anything other than "fancy sweat pants".

Eventually deciding to reimagine her blog as DudeMom.com, her site became a place where moms of boys could connect over the big love they had for their sons while also finding the cutest, and comfiest shoes to wear the next time they got sucked into chaperoning a school field trip. She continues to chronicle her busy, on-the-go life raising her three sons on her blog and you can also find Amanda’s writing about parenting on well-known sites such as ScaryMommy, Huffington Post, Redbook, NFL, and more. Amanda has also been featured on the Today Show, was an original iVoices video creator for iVillage, and has appeared on unscripted shows on both TLC and Nickelodeon.

Amanda is married to her college sweetheart and lives in Maryland with him, her three son, and two daughters who, incidentally, happen to be dogs. She continues to write for a number of sites including her own, and provides her voice to various businesses looking to breathe life into their social media platforms. Her first book, 50 Things to Do in Baby's First Year: The First-Time Mom's Guide for Your Baby, Yourself, and Your Sanity, was released in December, 2019.
