I am a former staff writer, columnist, and editorial editor for the Fairborn Daily Herald. I was also a staff writer for the Beavercreek Daily News and a freelance writer for the Dayton Daily News. As a journalist I covered everything from human-interest stories, school board and city council meetings, to murder trials.
After leaving the newspaper business, I worked for the National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) as their communications coordinator. I wrote for their quarterly magazine and designed several pages for children in the publication. I wrote many of the enshrinee biographies for their educational display and website. I researched and wrote video scripts about the inductees for enshrinement. I continued to write these video scripts as a volunteer after leaving the NAHF.
As an Air Force wife, I had numerous opportunities to volunteer in both the United States and overseas. I taught art to kindergarteners in England and tutored grade-schoolers in the States. I was also a grade school substitute teacher. Additionally I shared my love of Scouting with girls from the east coast to the Arizona desert to the Midwest. I was a Girl Scout leader, neighborhood chairperson and public relations chairperson.
I have a degree in Mass Communications from Wright State University. I have been a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators for over 20 years and enjoy writing books for children and teens.
