Hazel Bourne Carter

I was born on the beautiful Caribbean island of Trinidad, in a little village called Palo Seco, but now reside in Brooklyn, New York. The gift of poetry has always been in me. I wrote my first poem as a very young child. I admit that my first poem was a bit raw and unspoiled, but I later perfected my gift when, in 2008, I was given the opportunity to read the weekly announcements at my local Church International Christian Center. I soon transformed the mundane reading of the weekly announcements by adding my own poetic flair and performance to it. Since then, I have written several poems, sixty-eight of which are contained in my first book, Bourne To Luv. You will enjoy my dramatic, real and often very humorous poetry that contains topics every person can relate to. My second book, Bourne 2 Shine, has more passion and humor. A beautiful addition to my poetry are short stories which deal with thought provoking issues that will leave you in wonder and amazement.
