J G Miller

J. (James) G. Miller grew up in the 1950s, a golden age of science fiction, scientific discovery, and technological innovation. In an attempt to share with others the excitement and optimism he experienced as a boy, he wrote "The Solar Patrol: A Tale of a Future Once Imagined," a blend of hard science fiction and space opera.

After acquiring an undergraduate degree in physics, his goal of becoming a professional astronomer was sidetracked by a stint of four years in the U.S. Navy, followed by a return to graduate studies in astrophysics. It was while recovering from mononucleosis that the direction of Jame's life took a decisive change. In his weakened condition he was lured to the dark side and switched to nuclear engineering. Retiring after over 30 years in the nuclear industry, the author assumed a new career as an academic. He is presently a professor at a large public university where he terrorizes both undergraduate and graduate students by teaching courses in nuclear and mechanical engineering.

He is the proud father of two grown children, one a theater arts professional and the other a nuclear engineer. He and his wife happily reside in Richmond, Virginia, with their two cats, Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White.

"The Solar Patrol" is the first part of an epic saga of the future past. The second volume, "The Draconian Guard" is presently being written.

Before passing from this world to the next, he hopes to finally gain an understanding of the two greatest mysteries of the universe: women and cats.
