Robin E. J Chater

British-born Robin E. J Chater has been a writer for as long as he can remember, and has rarely chosen the safe path. He began his career as a journalist at the sharp end of labour relations, coining the phrase “Winter of Discontent” in its modern political sense, before moving into international management consultancy. That phase ended abruptly after he uncovered corruption at senior levels, an experience that twice cost him his position and permanently shaped his sceptical view of power.

For a decade he served as an Advisor to the European Commission in Brussels. He is now head of an international business organisation, a role that has taken him across Europe, Asia and beyond. His life has included long periods in politically unstable countries, extensive work in eastern Europe, and a continuing interest in human rights, views that have made him unwelcome in some places.

Robin has written widely across genres, from children’s fiction to poetry, thrillers, law and economics. His non-fiction output alone would run to more than 200 volumes if gathered together, and his work is frequently cited in the international press. He divides his time between southern France, Nicosia in Cyprus, and regular travel to southern China.
