Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson was born in June of 1988 in Everett, Washington. His life experiences and observations of himself and the people he knows and has met deeply influence his writing. While running cross country and track at Western Oregon University he earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and English Linguistics. Afterward, he studied teaching and earned a Master's degree from Northwest University. He has since taught English to students of many backgrounds and ages in four different countries (USA, Mexico, China, and Colombia, currently).

He would describe his writing self as one who appreciates the subtleties in behavior and what they reveal about the darkness within the human heart. He hopes readers can glean the hope embedded within the flaws of his characters. In his poetry and prose, Kyle takes inspiration from George Macdonald, Emily Dickinson, Cormack McCarthy, Edgar Allen Poe, Langston Hughes, Donald Miller, Zora Neal Hurst, and Ernest Hemingway.

When he is not writing or teaching, he enjoys meeting people of different backgrounds, dancing, thinking, hiking, traveling, playing basketball, and spending time with his family and friends.

He wonders where writing will take him, and he knows little about what he will do when he grows up. His first book, 'on this stone pavement.' was his first major literary aspiration with many more to come, including his current novel, which is centered on a track athlete aspiring to be the greatest.
