Laura Baskall Smith

Laura Baskall Smith is first and foremost a mother of two amazing children. She is a fierce advocate for causes that have touched her life personally and lives by the motto: turn pain into purpose. A writer and storyteller at heart, Laura shares authentic experiences to promote understanding, awareness, acceptance, neurodiversity, and kindness.

Laura is a speech-language pathologist, speaker, and advocate specializing in Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Through her work with SLP Mommy of Apraxia, she has helped families navigate childhood apraxia and related disabilities.

After bipolar disorder profoundly affected her own family, Laura began sharing the spouse's perspective on mental illness through her writing, social media account TheBPspouse, and the BipolarLines podcast. Her work has appeared in The Mighty, HuffPost, and ASHA Wire.

Whether advocating for a child finding their voice or a family navigating mental illness, Laura believes our hardest experiences can become the source of our greatest purpose.
