Patricia Vilches

Patricia Vilches was born in Viña del Mar, Chile. She has written fiction for decades alongside her academic work. During her early teenage years, she was part of a theatre group that dramatised the authors and plays in vogue at the time, such as 'The White Apron' by Sergio Vodanovic.

She has lived outside of Chile longer than she ever lived in Chile. She has lived in the United States, Italy and England for considerable periods of time.

In her fiction, Vilches brings together all of her personal experience and scholarly expertise in an attempt to better understand Chile, her country of birth.

In her academic career, Vilches has explored the national space in Chile and Latin American at large.
