Peter Cavalier

Peter R. "Pete" Cavalier spent forty years in the banking industry (36 of them at Citibank in New York City), before retiring in 2016. Born and raised at the Jersey Shore, he graduated from Washington & Lee University in Virginia in 1976. He returned to his home state for his first job with a bank based in Newark, NJ and subsequently completed his M.B.A. at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford,NJ. He lives with his wife, Marjorie, in Red Bank, NJ.

The inspiration for his first novel, "Bank Street", grew out of a desire to share his initial experiences in the workplace and to strike a nostalgic chord with the "baby boomer" generation. It is a coming-of-age story set in the late 1970s during a period of rapid social change. The sequel, "Flanagan's Flight" picks up where "Bank Street" left off in late 1978. Newlyweds Jerry and Maria Flanagan take us on a romp through the turbulent 1980s as they change jobs, travel the U.S., buy a house and start a family. Many of the characters from the first novel, "Bank Street", re-appear, and we are introduced to a new cast of colorful individuals who influence Jerry's life and career.

Pete has just completed his first children's book titled "Cora's Magical Pink Mitt" as of November 11, 2022. It is a story about baseball, teamwork and sharing, and is geared toward young readers ages 5-8. The illustrations were done by a talented young artist, Maggie Jelley, who is a sophomore at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She majors in Fine Arts and this is her first book of published illustrations.
